Watermelon 'n Hen Punch Needle
Offered this month is a Margaret Shaw designed
punch needle measuring 6-1/4"x 6-1/4". I worked
this with Valdani hand over-dyed threads, edged
it with black boucle and secured it to a wood
hornbook primitively hand cut from reclaimed
wood.
This particular piece of reclaimed wood was from
an old desk, a groove from the construction
is visible on the hornbook near the top.
A group of buttons is wound around the top
with rusty wire.

Farm measuring 5-1/2"x 6". The stitchery
is worked with Valdani hand over-dyed
threads, lightly aged and secured to a
hornbook hand cut from reclaimed wood.
A rusty look key is looped around the top
with linen thread.

Stitches of Olde measuring 7"x 7-1/2".
I stitched this with conventional threads in muted
colors on aged linen.
It is loosely filled with wool and linen snippets
for a primitive feel and whipstitched closed
at the bottom.
