 Framed Linen Sampler

Offered this month is a framed sampler
measuring approximately 10" square.  I
have stitched this on aged evenweave linen
using overdyed threads.

The sampler is hand stitched around the backing board
which is set in the frame, no glue is used on the linen
fabric.
The frame is reclaimed lumber with a re-purposed
decorative wood trim that is attached to the top frame rail.

It is backed with plain brown paper and has a wire
hanger and eyes secured to the back frame for hanging.

Primitive Rabbit 'n Chick Hornbook

This punch needle hornbook is an adaptation from

Brenda Gervais of With Thy Needle and Thread and
measures 5" x 10" x 3/4".
It is worked with Valdani hand over-dyed threads and

edged with black boucle. A string of buttons is tied
to the top.

The stitchery is secured to a unique repurposed

side of a vintage drawer, the old dovetail joint can
be seen at the bottom of the piece.  It has dings,
dents and a history of character in the wood that
adds to the charm of old saved pieces.
